Under its caretaker leadership, the Punjab government has taken a significant step toward going digital. They have introduced a new online system that makes it easier for citizens to get their learner's driving licenses. This innovative decision is all about simplifying and improving the licensing process, especially with more and more people in Punjab applying for licenses.
The citizens can now apply for online learning driving licenses online. This can be done using Punjab Police’s DLIMS website. Let’s look at the simple process for applying online.
1- Steps to Apply for a Learner’s License Using DLIMS Website
Visit the DLIMS Punjab website. A page will open where you need to start with a simple registration. Here are the steps:
Step 1- Register on DLIMS
- Go to the DLIMS platform and sign up.
- Fill in your name, CNIC, and other necessary details as shown in the image.
Step 2- Access Your Account
- Once registered, you'll land on your account's main page.
- Click on the "+ New Learner" button located at the top right corner.
Step 3- Fill Out the Learner Driving License Application
- Complete the license application by providing your personal information.
Step 4- Add Address Information
- Move to the address information section below your personal details and fill it out.
Step 5- Select License Category
- Choose the license category you are applying for.
Step 6- Upload Required Documents
- Upload necessary learner driving license required documents such as your picture, CNIC's front & back images, and a medical certificate (if you are above 50 years old).
Step 7- Make Payment
- A payment slip ID will be generated - called the PSID Number. This is the number you will use to pay for the learner’s license.
- Pay the learner's driving license fee through ATM, online banking, or mobile banking (Jazzcash, EasyPaisa, etc.) channels using the PSID number.
Step 8- Check Status
After making payment, go to ‘Applications’, and you will see that the payment status shows ‘Paid’ in green color.
Step 9- Print Learner License
To view and have your Learner License printed, click on the print icon in green color, under the Action option.
However, if you have already got a learner’s license, then you can apply for a driving license online in Pakistan.
2- Applying for a Learner’s License Using Punjab Police App
Step 1
Go to the app store and install Punjab Police’s app.
Step 2
Click on the ‘Apply Learner License’ option.
Step 3
Click the ‘+’ icon at the bottom right. On the next page, enter your CNIC number, and a form will appear that you need to fill.
Step 4
After entering the correct information, the app will ask you to make a payment of PKR 500 (Previous Fee (5 years): 60 rupees). After this, you can have your learner's license printed.
Note: If your learner license is already on the record, the app will show you a message saying ‘Your license already exists in our records’, after clicking the ‘+’ icon.
Age Limit for Learner Permit/License
Here are the age requirements for different vehicles:
- Motor Cycle/ Motor Car: 18 Years
- LTV (Rikshaw, Taxi, Tractor Commercial): 21 Years
- Note: Learner permits are issued on a daily basis whose validity is 6 months

Things you need to submit online:
- A photo of yourself.
- Scanned copies or pictures of both sides of your original CNIC.
- If you're 50 or older, include a medical certificate signed by a government doctor.
